Wood Dale, IL - On Oct 26, over 750 riders descended on Three Sons tavern
in Wood Dale, IL to participate in the Best Damn Biker Bar Contest at the
Ghosts of Summer Motorcycle Rally. Riders from as far away as Wisconsin
and Indiana voted for their favorite biker bar. Despite the cold and distance,
The Moccasin Bar at 3749 W. National Avenue in Milwaukee brought ten riders.
The winning entry was CC's Grove, 8258 S. Kean Avenue in Willow Springs,
IL by bringing 327 riders.
The entertainment included a "rockafied" Bill Miller, (Native American
Musician of the year) who currently lives in Nashville but was raised on
the Stockbridge-Munsee reservation in Wisconsin and went to school at UW
Lacrosse. The Thundercloud Singers, a traditional Native American drum-group
from Tomah also performed. The event was sponsored in part by the Ho-Chunk
Nation from Black River Falls as a benefit to the American Indian Center
in Chicago and also the Wood Dale Lioness Club.
"The event was so successful, that we may have to move it downtown to Grant Park next year," said Kenn Hartmann, organizer of the event and the author of "Milwaukee Biker Bars."
The vendors included Native Clarity from Racine. Also, Preacher, from Free Riders Press made the long trek with a stack of magazines which were quickly distributed to the crowd.
